History:

Los Cinco Picadores (a Spanish term meaning "the five mounted spear throwers") was created by Howell Spear to provide mineral interest income for his young grandsons.  As a point of interest, his grandsons once enjoyed very much throwing plastic spears around and would have been delighted to throw them from horseback if permission had been granted.  (Attention SBG Safety Officer:  It most certainly was not)

Today:

Los Cinco Picadores lives on in legend only now; in 2020 assets were officially transferred to Howell's grandchildren who are old enough to buy their own spears (and insurance) now.
